Nordward's New Purchasing Manager, Fredrik Dahlin: A New Chapter of Success and Sustainability

With anticipation, it’s time to reveal an exciting piece of news – our new purchasing manager is joining the team 14th of august. But instead of a traditional introduction, we thought it would be interesting with an in-depth interview.

Could you tell us a bit about your background and experience?

My name is Fredrik Dahlin, and I have worked with product assortment & purchasing for several years across different industries, including the grocery trade with experience from ICA AB/Ahold and the construction industry at Fredells Byggvaruhus. In my most recent role, I worked as a commercial contract manager at American DXC.

What attracted you to become a purchasing manager at Nordward?

There were several factors that were intriguing and drew me to the position of purchasing manager at Nordward.

The first thing that was attractive was the opportunity to be part of a team, something I enjoy very much. To be part of a team where we together tackle challenges and work towards common goals.

Secondly, it’s exciting to return to working with food again. Getting to work with food/commodities is something I truly appreciate and I look forward to being part of this dynamic and exciting industry again.

Finally, I also got a positive impression of Nordward as a company and the people I met during the recruitment process, and I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to be part of an organization that strives for success.

What are your main goals as our new purchasing manager and how do you plan to achieve them?

Of course, my main goals are for Nordward’s purchasing team to contribute to success and sustainable growth through an attractive assortment at the most competitive prices.

As for how, I will have to get back to you on that answer when I have settled in a bit more and when I know my colleagues a little better to understand where we have our strengths and possible areas we need to develop.

How do you see the future of the fish wholesale industry?

I see a promising future for the fish wholesale industry, especially considering the growing interest in healthy food and health in general.

Sustainability issues I believe will also play an increasingly important role and thereby increased focus on quality and traceability. Consumer demands for transparency are increasing, so by trying to adapt our purchasing work to this demand while we focus on sustainability, quality, diversification, we will position ourselves well and continue to be a competitive player in the fish wholesale industry.

What type of relationships do you hope to build with our suppliers and how will it benefit our business?

I hope that we will build long-term, sustainable, and healthy business relationships with our suppliers and partners. Our suppliers are of course incredibly important to achieve Nordward’s goals so I hope we can identify and establish strategic partnerships with suppliers who can offer high-quality products and services at competitive prices. Much is probably already in place today but supplier evaluations, advantageous agreements, and continuous evaluation of supplier performance are important to ensure that we achieve our goals for quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
